Sgt Roberto Ramos
War Wagon Observer/Crew Chief/
Gunner
Hi, My name is Melissa Ramos and I am
the daughter of Roberto Ramos who served in Vietnam with the War
Wagons.
I have been trying to find information about my Dad and the time he
served in the war.
He died when I was only five months old and I don't know very much
about him.
My mother was getting a divorce when he past away and she still holds a
lot of anger towards him.
So growing up and just having my mother tell me stories about him which
were rarely good left me with a hole in my heart.
His side of his family stopped talking to us when he passed away, so it
leaves me looking for stories of him.
I have all of his medals and all of the pictures he took during his
tours in Vietnam.
My mother just recently gave me your website with two names that
might be able to help me find the answers that I need.
As a mother of two boys now, I have been trying to pass down his legacy
with photos, but I have no stories of what he did in his time in the
Army.
The names that were given to me was Ray Murphy and Rick Waite.
Before the War Wagons, he served 173rd Air Borne, 75th Rangers, Co. C
Team 6 and the 3rd TAC Team Snipers CO. 173 A. B.
I am asking for anyone who may have stories or memories of him and what
he went through to please contact me through this website. I would love
to know what kind of man he was. I don't want his legacy to die so I am
desperately trying to get information so that I can pass that down to
my boys.
It's been very hard for my sisters and me to try to imagine
someone who was our Dad with very little to go by.
My father died on December 19, 1982 he was on a helicopter doing a run
late at night. The pilot didn't see a tree as he was approaching his
landing zone and it crashed killing the pilot on site and my father was
trapped inside as the helicopter burned.
He had three daughters and my oldest sister was affected the most.
I was told that after the war he just wasn't the same.
I am sure he endured alot and like any solider, he had a story.
My dad received the silver star after he pasted away along with other
medals.
Thank you so much.
