THE
LIGHT HORSE CHALLENGE
COINS
ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE NOW !
IMPORTANT
STUFF!
In
2010, D Troop Crusader Pilot and "Plank Holder,"
Sonny Kayser
worked very hard to get the first "batch"
of our beautiful Challenge Coins for the Troop.
As we approached the 2016 Light Horse Reunion
Rick Roll and I decided to have 100 more coins
struck but discovered that the
vendor had gone out of business.
Sonny found another vendor who again charged a
substantial set-up fee (which was generously
donated by a fellow Trooper)
but we had 100 coins (also donated by a generous
fellow Trooper)
for sale in Daytona Beach in April 2016.
We sold all 100 coins!
Wishing to another batch available, we soon
discovered the "new" vendor had also gone out of
business!
We have located another vendor and again there
will be a set up fee and minimum of 100 coins to
be struck.
That said, there really hasn't been much
interest from the Troop to have more coins
produced.
Rick Roll and I will wait until we have a decent
commitment for good number of coins before we
enter into business with another vendor.
About the coins:
Every effort was made to include the Unit's
history during its tour in Vietnam from Bear Cat
to Dong Tam and finally Vinh Long.
As you can see by the photos below, you can hold
the coin in the your palm and read all of the
Platoon callsigns.
The
coins were not being struck for profit!
