Helicopter AH-1G/S/F
66-15318
Link to a condensed history
of this Cobra.
Recently I was contacted by a gentleman from New York representing
the
"Putnam County Joint Veterans Council".
He has recently procured an AH-1G/S/F sn 66-15318,
from Fort Drum and has put it on display in their Memorial Park.
This Crusader Cobra flew with D Troop for just 52 hours in September
of 1969.
It was DEROSed by multiple schrapnel wounds from an RPG.
Reports indicate the damage occured while the Snake was attacking
a target.
Final paint will include Crusader and Light Horse patches.
Pete Allegretta is the curator.
He is seeking any information you guys might have
regarding the ship or anyone in the region that may be interested in attending
a "Dedication Ceremony" in 2003.
