Accident Summary:
AIRCRAFT WAS ON A TRAINING FLIGHT
AND ^MY THO AIRSTRIP^ WAS BEING UTILIZED FOR PRACTICING TOUCHDOWN AUTOROTATIONS.
THE INSTRUCTOR HAD DEMONSTRATED ONE AND THEN THE PILOT WAS INSTRUCTED TO
EXECUTE A TOUCHDOWN AUTOROTATION. THE AUTOROTATION WAS ENTERED CORRECTLY.
TO TERMINATE, THE PILOT FLARED, LEVELED THE AIRCRAFT AND, AT APPROXIMATELY
15 FEET, APPLIED INITIAL COLLECTIVE PITCH TO SLOW THE RATE OF DESCENT.
ACCORDING TO THEIR STATEMENTS THE AIRCRAFT FLOATED, RPM BEGAN BLEEDING
OFF AND AT APPROXIMATELY 6 FEET, AS THE RPM DECREASED THROUGH 200 RPM,
THE AIRCRAFT DROPPED RAPIDLY RESULTING IN A HARD LANDING. LOW ROTOR RPM
ON TOUCHDOWN CAUSED THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES TO FLEX DOWN SEVERING THE TAILBOOM.\\
