In 2003, unbeknownst to most of us
D Troop, Light Horse and Charliehorse Troopers,
the 3/5th Squadron Association raised funds and erected a
monument honoring
all former Troopers of the 3rd of the 5th Cavalry
Squadron.
The monument was erected and dedicated near the
Patton Museum at Fort Knox, KY. "The Home of Armor."
12 years ago relations between D Troop and the
Squadron were still a bit strained.
As an off and on member of the association, perhaps I bear
some of the responsibility for not getting "the word" out to
D Troop and Light Horse in general.
At any rate here are some photos taken at the dedication in
2003.

Quesada in the back.)

War Wagon Scouts)
Here is the clincher; Armor, in its entirety, is
being moved to Fort Benning, GA.
During the past Squadron Reunion a vote was taken and
it was decided that the monument should be moved to Fort
Benning
just as so many other unit's memorial monuments are being
moved.
There is a fund raising effort underway to see this mission
completed.
I have prepared a couple of webpages to present more
information about how we can honor all of our Troopers with
lasting memorials.
