My Crusader Birds.
The C Model was my ride with Tony Ziemeckie until we got the Cobras in
the summer of 1968.
The
Cobra #550 is below with Tony as the pilot and, I believe, Dave
Aaronson.
By
the way, not only was Ziemeckie a great pilot, he was a heck of a nice
guy.
Tony Ziemeckie's Cobra was #550. We added the eyeballs to the turret.
Revetment for "Good Ship Lollypop"
This was taken in Dong Tam in 1968.
Front row from left to right: Anton Patterson, Lennerd Stewart, Robert
Scott, Charles Bash.
Back row from left to right: Tom Fernandes, Jim Parker, Dennis Reed,
(Me) Harold Feltner, "Big" Fred Brester, David "Twiggy" Gibson.
Footnote on Fred Brester: He was so strong that he could torque a main
rotor by himself. Also, he was shot on two different occasions; once in
the mouth piece taking a part of his lip in 1968 and once in the foot
while flying in a Loach with Captain Bryan shortly after I left in
February 1969. He was so big that it was hard to miss him when shot at
from the ground.
Dennis Reed on the left and Robert Scott on the right.
David "Twiggy" Gibson
Do you notice that he looks just like the "Mister
Clean" guy.
Who knows, maybe that was him in the commercials.
Dong Tam----Need I say more?
Looks like we sprayed our own base with Agent Orange. Never saw a blade
of grass anywhere.
Remember these little mini tornados?
What a pain these things were if they hit the parked aircraft.
