Michael Bernard McGuire January 15,
1949 – July 13, 2014.
Mr. Michael McGuire was 65 when he
passed away after a long illness. Michael was born in
Compton, CA.
Mike was a US Army veteran
having served two combat tours in the Republic of Vietnam
from May 1968 to September 1970.
He was a helicopter crew chief with
D Troop 3/5th Air Cavalry located in that country’s Delta
region.
Mike “Mac” flew on numerous Combat assault missions and was
awarded Numerous Air Medals.
Other awards and decorations
include: Two Bronze Stars,
National Defense Service
Medal, Vietnam Service Medal,
Vietnam Campaign Medal and Army
Commendation Medal.
Michael is survived by his wife,
Susan McGuire.
Michael has two children from a previous marriage; Trevor
McGuire and daughter Nicole McGuire of Blanco, TX.
Michael is also survived by two sisters;
Maureen Keck of Las Vegas NV and
Terri Rodgers of Portland, OR.
The Memorial Service will be held
at a private residence located
At 3669 Hege Street, Winston-Salem
NC at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 23rd, 2014.

chiefs. "Mac's" Memorial On Saturday, the 23 of August, 2014, Ms Lori and Sherman
Gains, residents of Lexington, NC and friends of Mike McGuire
put together a beautiful memorial service at their home for
our Brother in Arms.
Mike's ashes, photos, memorabilia and some of his awards
and decorations were on display. Among the awards are 2 Bronze Stars, 58 Air Medals and 1
Air Medal with "V" device for valor.
Don and Cindy Callison attended the service.
Callison was honored to be able to set up the traditional
Cavalry Memorial for "Mac."
The VFW Honor Guard arrived. They were a full guard unit
with chaplain, firing squad and bugler.
Callison spent a few minutes sharing war stories with
former Navy Sea Wolf Crewchief CPO Gray Jensen
Working out the last minute details with Lori and Sherman
and explaining some of what the Troop did in Vietnam and
McGuire's role as a Huey Crewchief.
Sherman helps VFW's CPO Gray Jensen prepare the
presentation flag.
Sherman began the service with introductions.
Callison said a few words about Mac, the significance of
his medals and the Air Cavalry Troop and tradition.

Veterans
The Honor Guard fired three volleys which were followed by
the Bugler playing Taps.
The Flag was ceremoniously folded.

salute. (We didn't know Carol was going to receive the Flag
and we hadn't prepared to have to dogs secured out of the
