Robson Ranch Veteran's Park
Denton Texas
Submitted by Quin Sowell

Several years ago I approached the developer here at Robson Ranch and
asked about building a Veteran's Park. He provided the land, the
electrical, the sprinkler system and pays for the upkeep. We sold
bricks and benches to pay for the part they didn't provide.
This is a neat place. It is high. I'm
in Denton and were it not for the curvature of the earth, you could see
all the way to Mineral Wells.
Prior to each Veteran's Day, additional bricks and benches are sold.
I don't know why someone from a distant area would be interested in a
brick here,
but this is my project and if anyone from D Troop would like to
memorialize a friend, family member or even themselves, I will make it
happen.
This is the bench that Quinn had made
honoring D Troop's Combat losses during his tour of duty.
Veteran's Day 2010
This guy is a history
teacher in the area and he brought his Revolutionary War Mortar
replica. This thing is loud!
REALLY LOUD!
We also had a Fly-By at this
year's ceremony.
War Wagon, JB West was showing one of
his cars at a show in the area.
I
am Treasurer of a local charitable organization named "Support Our
Troops", Inc
e raise money in various ways and send
stuff to the guys and girls overseas. We also send money to some other
organizations that I have vetted that provide aid and comfort to
veterans of the current war. We also go to the Dallas-Fort Worth
airport to greet incoming R&R flights. The warm greeting is much
appreciated.
100% of the money collected goes to
the troops. We are all volunteers and our dues cover the admin expenses.
If you run across anyone who doesn't
trust their money to these types of groups, send them my way.
