My rank when I got to D Troop was SP4 and I left
as a SP5.
I arrived in country 6/15/70 and was stationed in Soc
Trang with the 336AHC, Soc Trang Tigers. Then in November of that year
the base was turned over to Marvin the ARVN and I was re-assigned
to D Troop 3/5 at Vinh Long. I stayed there until 5/15/71. The Troop had
Loaches, Cobras, and Hueys.
I was assigned to the Longknife flight platoon as Crewchief
on UH-1D 66-197. After a while I got a brand new bird. It was 69-15897
and when I left country Tom Quilty (my last door gunner) took over my duties
as c/e.
Some of my A/Cs were Joe Sheeran [24], Dana Brown [22],
and “CanDo” Dennis Kennedy[?]
Yes you can use my name if you’d like.
I have many photos and some documents that might be of
interest to you or some of the other guys, also in the memory dept.; there
are a lot of them too.
If I ever get a chance to sit down with, oh, say; Steve
Mclain, Tom Quilty, Tom Porter, John B. Williams “Big O”, (By the way,
I still owe John) I’m sure we could put together some interesting facts.
