Kinzey Reeves on the left, Gary "Moe" Holian on the right.
Holian was KIA on a slick shot down in August 1971.
We are sitting in the area behind the ARP Hootch.
I believe the maintenance Hootches are on the right side of the
picture.

I believe this was March
21, 1971 about 50 miles west of Quang Tri on
a "volounteer" mission with 15 Arps inserted by a bomb crater created
by an "arc light" mission the night before.
There was supposed to be a known battalion of NVA in that area.
There was commo wire already strung over the bomb craters.
We cut the wire and followed I a distance into the forest where we
discovered hundreds of fresh but empty bunkers.
It was like a city under the trees.
It just opened up into an open area covered by tree tops and we
couldn't see out the top.
A NVA soldier came strolling through there and didn't see us
until it was too late.
We threw hand grenades and tear gas grenades and went back to the
LZ and were extracted.
