"FINAL MISSION OF SP4 EDDIE B. HUBRINS"
On September 24, 1971, a U.S. Army helicopter OH-6A from D
Troop, 3rd Squadron, 5th Cavalry, 101st Airborne Division,
was shot down by small arms fire in Northern I Corps,
approximately six miles southwest of Quang Tri Airfield in
Quang Tri Province, RVN.
The crew chief on the flight, SP4 Eddie B. Hubrins, was
fatally injured in the incident.
The pilot, WO1 Steven R. Hanson, survived the crash.
However, WO1 Hanson was fatally injured while being extracted
from the crash site by a rope suspended from a CH-47
helicopter when the rope broke and he fell to his death.

Amended by webmaster: Eddie Hubrins, Observer/Gunner, was
very seriously injured when the OH-6A scout helicopter was
shot down near Quang Tri City on September 24, 1971.
He died on October 15, 1971 as a result of those injuries.
I will include him with Hanson on the Troop Memorial Roster as
a loss on September 24, 1971
