War Wagon, Don Langlois
Remembers the Scout Platoon in 1969

In the incident with Williams & Bloodworth, Greeno was mentioned as the CE with Williams.
You might want to contact Jim Ormsby (Bee). Bee was there at the time.

I remember Greeno and Dale both shipped over from 9th Aviation, where they were friends before coming to D troop.
There was some switching from lead to trail during that time.
Dale could very well have been the second CE on that mission.

Don't know if you know this true story, but here goes.

I took over the CE scheduling just before Bee deros'd. Since Eric Blantin and I were close since Dong Tam, I began scheduling myself to fly with him when Eric began moving into lead position. I remember training Eric on making his lil' bomb runs when we were in the U Minh forest.

To make a long story short. The scheduling board just happened to be in Eric's room.
On the day that Conrad Wheeler and Greeno got it, I had originally scheduled myself to fly that mission that day with Wheeler.
Later, after the incident someone saw me and said that Top was looking for me.
When I went to the company area, Top said they were trying to confirm who was with Wheeler.
The night before, Greeno had come to me while I was in Eric's room and asked if I would put him up with Wheeler
and I said yeah, ok.

That ain't the end of the story yet. I liked Wheeler because he was a jokster and nearly got my a-- in hot water with the dumba-- troop commander (who Mike can tell you his name) for something I said over the radio for everyone to hear.
I had my intercom on the music radio only and Conrad asked me a question concerning the CO.
I answered and Conrad acted as if he didn't hear me. When I repeated myself he turned my radio switch on so that everyone, imcluding the CO could hear. I loved that guy!

The story still ain't done yet. Because Eric and I were close, I began scheduling myself with him quite frequently.
Well, the night before Eric was killed, Jim Dale came to Eric's room and asked I would let him fly with Eric the next day.
Again, I said yeah, okay

Next morning, Top Gardner woke me up and said he knew how close Eric and I were, but he had bad news to tell me.
That's when I found out Eric was gone. I felt like sh-- a long time after that.
(I think it effected my second tour, because I was coined the nickname of the Ugly American)

Both incidents happened. If I hadn't switched with either Greeno or Dale, one of them might be here instead of me.
Back in those days there was a lot of switching going on.
I spent a time with lot with Crow and Duncan. Crow and I crashed together.
Duncan and I nearly got ourselves shot out of the air.
Damn, I wish Joe would get a computer so I could talk to him. I can't afford the phone charges anymore.

Sorry for taking up so much time, but felt like letting you know, yet another story from the bastard cav.
