Tom arrived in Vietnam in February 1970 and was sent to Dong Tam where he was a Huey Door Gunner until April that year.
He moved to Vinh Long and D Troop 3rd of the 5th Cavalry and started as a DG then became a Crewchief on UH-1H sn 084.
"Lumpy" Martin was the Aircraft Commander (AC).
He continued as a Huey Crewchief until early 1971, then became a Cobra Crewchief on AH-1G sn 179.
The AC was Charlie Brown.
While he was crewing Cobras he would fill in as a Scout Observer/Gunner with the War Wagons.
Around August 1971 Tom went full time to the War Wagons until November 1, 71.
