Warning Order – 2017 Light Horse Air Cavalry Reunion!

Hang on to your reins fellow Cavalry troopers because here comes the Biggie; the 50th Anniversary reunion of our troop’s deployment to Vietnam.
Your hosts have pulled out all the stops to make sure that this will be your most memorable reunion EVER!!
To make it extra special, our guest of honor will be none other than Joe Galloway, the co-author & screenwriter of “We Were Soldiers Once & Young!” Joe is a spellbinding speaker so be sure to bring lots of Kleenex.
Later this year we’ll send you additional information on Galloway and the wonderful book he wrote with General Hal Moore.
Your reunion hosts have decided to again contract with The Holiday Inn & Suites – 930 North Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL32118 - www.daytonabeachholiday.com , and there is no question that you should thoroughly enjoy reuniting with your fellow veterans at this excellent facility located right on Daytona Beach.  It is undergoing a major renovation which will be completed prior to our arrival.
Notwithstanding the fact that prices inevitably go up, we have been able to keep the rooms prices as low as possible and please note that the room rates include transportation to a nearby ballroom, for those of us that a short walk will be too much, which will be able to accommodate the big crowd we expect for our Anniversary dinner/speaker on Friday evening, April 28. Ocean view rooms are now $125 while regular rooms are $115. Troopers who want an ocean view room should reserve one ASAP.
For those of you who were not with us this year, we recommend that you check-out the hotel’s website, see above, to learn all about what this fine facility has to offer you.
According to our longstanding tradition, there will still be no upfront registration fee.  You will be asked to pay for our Friday group dinner and Saturday afternoon surprise lunch when you’re with us and we will depend on the “kitty” to cover the modest miscellaneous costs of organizing the reunion.
You should be pleased to learn that we will again enjoy the complimentary use of the hotel’s main meeting room for Thursday, Friday & Saturday!  Weather permitting; we’ll schedule some of our activities to take place beside their beautiful swimming pool.
The reunion will officially begin at noon on the 27th and conclude on Sunday the 30th.  For those of you who would like to arrive sooner and/or depart later, our negotiated room rates will be good from
4/25 to 5/2.

Details about the traditional golf tournament will be detailed on the Troop Website and in future e-mails.
To make this event a huge success, it is very important that each of you reach out to your fellow Dough Boys, Spooks, Scavengers, Operations, Long Knives, Crusaders, and War Wagons and put a burr under their “saddles” to inspire them to join us next April for our 50th anniversary!
Please let Rick Roll, rroll@comcast.net or Don Callison, warwagon14@gmail.com know ASAP if you are planning to join us so we can make sure we have enough rooms set aside for our group.  To reserve your room/rooms, please call a member of the HI’s reservations staff at 386-255-5494 or toll free at 800-804-7851 and let them know that you will be attending the “Light Horse Air Cavalry Reunion.”  Please note that though you will need to use a credit card to reserve/guarantee your room, your credit card will NOT be charged until the actual reunion weekend. All rooms will be allocated on a first come/first served basis and if you have any questions or comments concerning the reunion, please address them to Rick Roll at rroll@comcast.net /302-698-6375 or Don Callison at warwagon14@gmail.com/386-216-1711.
Be sure to check the Troop website at www.lighthorseaircav.com for the latest information and to see who has signed up to attend the 2017 Reunion at “HLZ Daytona.”
